Travel Into the Working World of 1890's Estate Life
Step into the everyday life of families who lived on the estate raising livestock, tending crops, and working at Biltmore Dairy in the 1890's. River Bend Barn—once the social and work center for these families—is alive again with blacksmiths, woodworkers, and other craft demonstrations; an old-fashioned Mercantile shop; a Creamery offering ice cream treats; live bluegrass bands, and more.
River Bend Barn is open daily,
- Barn – 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Farmyard – 10:00 a.m.–4:45 p.m.
- Interpreters – 12:00 noon–5:00 p.m.
Fun Kids Activities
Get in on the fun with hands on turn-of-the-century games and crafts. Make a pine cone bird feeder, learn how to make a yarn doll, create corn cob creatures, jump into a relay race, and more. Activities are listed at the River Bend Barn.
